Mastodon profile audit
Check how your Mastodon profile looks to someone who found you through a boost or a hashtag. Get your bio, profile fields, header, pinned post and posting habits reviewed, with bio rewrites and the fixes that matter most.
What makes a good Mastodon profile?
On Mastodon, people mostly find you through boosts, hashtags and replies, then open your profile to decide whether to follow. They read your bio and profile fields, look for a pinned introduction, and check that you post things they want in their home timeline. There is no algorithm pushing you to them, so the profile has to do the work.
This audit works with any server. Enter your full address, like name@mastodon.social, and it reads your public profile and up to 40 recent posts, checks your setup, measures your rhythm and engagement, and has an AI review your bio and pinned post.
What the audit looks at on Mastodon
Bio and profile fields
The audit reads your bio and your profile fields together, the way visitors do, and checks that they say what you post about.
Avatar and header
The default avatar and empty header make an account look new or abandoned. Both are flagged.
Pinned introduction
Mastodon has a tradition of pinned #introduction posts. A good one is often the reason people follow.
Rhythm, replies and boosts earned
Posts per week, your longest gap, how much of your activity is conversation, and what each post gets back.
Mastodon profile tips
Use your profile fields
Add your site, pronouns, location or other accounts as fields. They are easier to scan than a long bio.
Verify your links
Add a rel="me" link on your website back to your profile and the field gets a green check.
Pin an introduction
Write a short #introduction post about who you are and what you post, and pin it.
Feature your hashtags
Featured hashtags on your profile show visitors the topics you post about most.
Fix consistency without posting more by hand
Most audits flag the same thing: long silences on some networks. MicroPoster publishes each post natively to X, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and LinkedIn, so one good post keeps every profile active. Paid plans also check your connected accounts for shadowbans every month.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work on servers other than mastodon.social?
Yes. Enter your full address with your server, like name@fosstodon.org. The audit reads your profile from your own server's public API.
How long can a Mastodon bio be?
500 characters on most servers, which is Mastodon's default. Some servers allow more. Profile fields come on top of that.
Do I need to log in or connect my account?
No. The audit reads your public profile and recent public posts, the same things any visitor sees. You only type your handle.
Which parts are AI and which are measured?
The setup, consistency, engagement and content mix scores are calculated from your public data with fixed rules, so they are the same every time. The written review, the bio score and the bio rewrites come from an AI model that is given those numbers and your posts and told not to contradict them or invent facts about you.
Is it free?
Yes. Three audits a day, no account. Each result is kept for six hours, so opening your own audit again does not use one.
MicroPoster is not affiliated with Mastodon gGmbH. The audit reads public data only. Last reviewed on October 10, 2026.
