Bluesky shadowban checker
Bluesky does not hide its moderation the way other networks do. Every label it puts on an account is public. This checker reads them, then tests whether search still finds you.
Can you be shadowbanned on Bluesky?
Not in the secret sense. When Bluesky's moderators limit an account, they do it with a label, and labels are public data anyone can read. A label like Spam, Inauthentic or Engagement farming tells every Bluesky app to hide your posts from feeds, replies and search by default. To you, that feels exactly like a shadowban.
So the real question is whether your account or your posts carry a label that hides them. This checker asks Bluesky's moderation service directly and lists every active label with the date it was applied. It then searches for your posts and your handle to confirm what the labels do in practice.
If the account is clean and search finds you, you are not limited. Lower reach is then down to the feeds people use, which rank posts by their own rules.

The five things that decide whether people see you
| Check | What it means | If it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Account labels | A label from Bluesky's moderation team on your whole account. | Your posts are hidden or behind a warning everywhere. Appeal the label in the app. |
| Post labels | Labels on single posts, for example adult content or rude. | Those posts get little reach. The rest of your account is fine. |
| Post search | Whether searching from:yourhandle returns your posts. | Your posts are filtered out of search, usually because of a label. |
| People search | Whether typing your handle suggests your account. | New people cannot find you by name. |
| Logged-out visibility | A privacy setting you can turn on yourself. | Google and people without an account cannot see your posts. |
Why Bluesky labels accounts
Most account labels come from Bluesky's automated systems first and a human review second. These are the usual triggers.
Following too many people too fast
Mass following, especially from a new account, is the most common route to the Engagement farming or Spam label.
Repeating yourself
The same reply under many posts, or the same link posted over and over, looks like spam to the automated filters.
Looking like an impersonator
Using a famous name or photo without a domain handle or clear bio can earn the Impersonation label, which hides you by default.
Reports from other users
Reports go to Bluesky's moderators. A burst of them on one post often ends with a label on that post, sometimes on the account.
What to do if you find a label
Read which label it is
The result above lists each label, what it means and when it was applied. A post label and an account label are very different problems.
Stop the pattern
If the label is Spam or Engagement farming, stop mass following and repeated posting before you appeal. Moderators look at recent activity.
Appeal in the app
Open the label on your profile or post and choose Appeal. Say plainly what you use the account for and what you changed.
Check again after the reply
When Bluesky removes a label, it disappears from this check straight away, because we read the same moderation data the apps do.

Frequently asked questions
Does Bluesky shadowban people?
Not secretly. Bluesky limits accounts with moderation labels, and those labels are public. A hiding label works like a shadowban for the person who has it, but you can see it, check it with this tool, and appeal it.
Why are my Bluesky posts not showing up in search?
Usually because the account or the posts carry a label that hides them, such as Spam. It can also be a brand new account or a handle change that search has not caught up with yet. This checker tells you which.
Can I check someone else's Bluesky account?
Yes. Labels are public on Bluesky, so you can check any handle, including accounts you are thinking of following or blocking. The check never signs in and never contacts the account.
How do I appeal a Bluesky label?
Open the label in the Bluesky app, on your profile for an account label or on the post for a post label, and choose Appeal. A suspended account gets an Appeal button on the suspension screen when you sign in. Bluesky's moderators reply by email.
Is this Bluesky checker free?
Yes. Ten checks a day, no account, no app password, no OAuth. It only reads public data from Bluesky's own servers.
MicroPoster is not affiliated with Bluesky Social. Labels are read from Bluesky's public moderation service and may change at any time. Last reviewed on October 9, 2026.
